Hisense TV Error Code E103: DNS Resolution Failure
Error code E103 on a Hisense TV indicates a DNS (Domain Name System) resolution failure. While the television may be physically connected to your Wi-Fi network and may even have a valid IP address, it is unable to translate website and server names (such as netflix.com or youtube.com) into the numerical IP addresses needed to connect to them.
Understanding DNS
DNS acts as the internet’s phonebook. When you open a streaming app, the TV looks up the server address for that service using a DNS server. If the DNS server is unreachable, slow, or returning incorrect information, the TV cannot find the servers it needs, resulting in E103.
Causes
The most common cause is a fault with the DNS server being used by the TV, which by default is usually your ISP’s DNS server. If that server is temporarily down or overloaded, all internet-dependent functions on the TV will stop working.
Another cause is incorrect DNS settings that may have been manually entered on the TV, or changes made to the router’s DNS configuration that the TV has not picked up.
Solutions
Change the DNS Server In the TV’s network settings, navigate to IP Settings or DNS Settings and manually enter a reliable DNS address. Google’s public DNS (8.8.8.8 as primary, 8.8.4.4 as secondary) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) are both fast and reliable alternatives to most ISP-provided DNS servers.
Restart the Router Restarting the router often refreshes its DNS configuration and resolves temporary DNS resolution failures at the source.
Reset Network Settings on the TV Clear the TV’s stored network settings and reconnect to Wi-Fi from scratch. This ensures the TV picks up fresh DNS information from the router.
Contact Your ISP If changing the DNS server does not help, your ISP may be experiencing broader connectivity issues. Contact them to verify that there are no outages affecting your service.
