Hisense TV Audio Errors: Common Problems and Complete Solutions

Audio errors on a Hisense TV can range from mildly irritating to completely disruptive. Whether your TV is producing no sound at all, delivering distorted or crackling audio, cutting in and out unexpectedly, or experiencing sync issues between the picture and sound, understanding the root cause is the first step to a solution.

Types of Audio Errors

No Sound The most fundamental audio error. The TV displays a picture but produces no audio whatsoever. The volume indicator may respond normally, but no sound is emitted.

Distorted or Crackling Sound Audio is present but has an unpleasant quality — crackling, buzzing, humming, or sounding muffled or thin.

Audio Out of Sync The audio and video are noticeably out of alignment — either the sound precedes or lags behind the corresponding image. This is particularly noticeable in dialogue scenes.

No Sound from External Sources Only Sound works on internal apps but disappears when using HDMI inputs or other external connections.

Intermittent Audio Sound cuts in and out unpredictably during viewing.

Common Causes

Audio errors can stem from software settings, external device configuration, audio format compatibility issues, or physical hardware faults. The most frequent causes are incorrect audio output settings, incompatible audio formats being sent over HDMI (such as Dolby Atmos on a TV that does not support it), and loose or damaged audio cables or speaker connections.

Solutions by Error Type

For No Sound First, check that the TV is not muted — press the mute button on the remote and observe the on-screen indicator. Increase the volume using the physical buttons on the TV itself to rule out a remote malfunction. Navigate to Settings > Sound > Sound Output and confirm the output is set to TV Speakers rather than an external device (ARC, optical, or Bluetooth). If using an external soundbar or AV receiver, ensure it is powered on and set to the correct input.

For Distorted or Crackling Sound Go to Settings > Sound and reset sound settings to default. Disable any sound enhancement features such as Dolby Atmos processing or DTS processing temporarily. If the crackling occurs on specific channels or inputs but not others, the issue may be with the source signal rather than the TV.

For Audio Sync Issues Navigate to Settings > Sound > Audio Sync or A/V Sync and adjust the audio delay to bring sound and picture into alignment. If using an external sound system, this adjustment may need to be made on the external device rather than the TV.

For No Sound from External Sources Ensure the HDMI cable is fully seated and is a high-quality cable. Try switching HDMI ports. Set the audio output format on the connected device to PCM (rather than Dolby or DTS bitstream) as a test — this simplest format is compatible with all TVs. Navigate to Settings > Sound > HDMI Audio Format and adjust if necessary.

For Intermittent Audio Check for Bluetooth audio devices paired to the TV (such as headphones) — the TV may be intermittently routing audio to them. Navigate to Settings > Sound > Sound Output and disconnect any paired Bluetooth devices. Also check for interference from nearby wireless devices.

When to Seek Professional Help

If all software-based solutions have been exhausted and audio errors persist, the fault may lie with the TV’s internal speakers, the audio amplifier circuit on the main board, or a damaged audio output port. These require physical inspection and repair by a qualified Hisense-authorised technician.
