Hisense TV Error Code E302: T-Con Board Error
Error code E302 on a Hisense TV typically points to a fault in the T-Con (Timing Controller) board. The T-Con board is a small but essential circuit board positioned behind the display panel. It controls the timing of the signals sent to the individual rows and columns of pixels that make up the image.
What the T-Con Board Does
The T-Con board acts as the intermediary between the main processing board and the display panel. It receives the processed video signal from the main board and converts it into the precise, timed electrical signals needed to drive each row of pixels on the LCD panel at the correct moment. Without a functioning T-Con board, the image on screen breaks down.
Symptoms of a T-Con Failure
The most recognizable symptom is vertical or horizontal colored lines running across the display. These may be white, black, or colored, and they typically span the full height or width of the screen. The screen may also display a distorted half-image, show the top half correctly while the bottom half is blank, or alternate between normal and corrupted display states.
Causes
T-Con board failures are often caused by power surges that send excess voltage through the board’s components. Heat damage over prolonged use is another factor, as is physical damage from drops or impacts. Manufacturing defects can also cause T-Con failures, particularly in the first year of use.
Solutions
Check the Ribbon Cables Before replacing the T-Con board, check the ribbon cables that connect it to both the main board and the display panel. These cables can work loose, and reseating them sometimes resolves E302. However, this requires opening the TV, so it should only be done by someone comfortable with electronics repair.
Replace the T-Con Board T-Con boards are model-specific and relatively inexpensive compared to a full panel replacement. A qualified technician can replace the board and restore full display function.
