Hisense TV Error Code E201: No HDMI Signal Detected
Error code E201 on a Hisense TV specifically indicates that no signal has been detected on the selected HDMI input. The TV is receiving no data from the connected device, even though the physical connection appears to be in place.
Understanding E201
This error is different from a compatibility issue — it is not that the signal is incompatible, but rather that no signal is arriving at the TV at all. This typically means either the source device is not outputting a signal, the physical connection has failed somewhere along the chain, or the TV’s HDMI port is not registering the connection.
Common Causes
The connected device may be powered off, in sleep mode, or set to output to a different display. The HDMI cable may be loosely seated in either the TV or the source device. The HDMI port on either the TV or the source device may be damaged or dirty.
Solutions
Confirm the Source Device Is On and Outputting Ensure the connected device — gaming console, laptop, Blu-ray player — is powered on and actively outputting a video signal. Some devices require you to manually select the output display or resolution.
Re-seat the HDMI Cable Remove the HDMI cable from both ends and reinsert it firmly into both the TV and the source device. A loose connection is one of the most common causes of E201.
Try a Different HDMI Cable Even if the cable appears undamaged, swap it with another to rule out an internal failure within the cable.
Test on a Different HDMI Port Switch to a different HDMI port on the TV and update the TV’s input selection accordingly. This identifies whether the issue is with a specific port.
Check for Physical Damage Inspect both HDMI ports for bent pins, debris, or physical damage. Use compressed air to gently clean any dust or debris from the port.
